This account is required to sideload apps on LG WebOS TVs. It’s free, takes about 3 minutes to set up, and you only need to do it once. After completing these steps you’ll have a passphrase to enter in your DisplayHUB controller to install the app automatically.

1

Create a Free LG Developer Account

Go to the LG WebOS developer portal and sign up:

webostv.developer.lge.com →

  1. Click Sign In in the top right corner.
  2. On the login page, click CREATE ACCOUNT.
  3. Select your country and click Confirm.
  4. Accept the terms and conditions.
  5. Enter your email address and choose a password.
  6. Check the required agreement boxes, then click Create Account.
  7. Verify your email — check your inbox for a confirmation link and click it.
⚠️ Use an email you have easy access to — you’ll need to verify it before you can log in.

2

Install the Developer Mode App on Your TV

On your LG TV:

  1. Open the LG Content Store (press the Home button on your remote and look for the store icon).
  2. Search for Developer Mode.
  3. Select the app published by LG Electronics and click Install. It’s free.
💡 The app might be listed as “webOS TV Developer Mode” depending on your TV’s region.

3

Sign In and Enable Developer Mode

  1. Open the Developer Mode app on your TV.
  2. Sign in with the LG developer account you just created.
  3. Toggle Dev Mode Status to On.
  4. Confirm the prompt — your TV will restart automatically.
⚠️ The TV restart is normal and required. Your regular TV apps and settings are not affected.

4

Enable the Key Server and Get Your Passphrase

After the TV restarts, open the Developer Mode app again.

  1. Confirm Dev Mode Status is still On.
  2. Toggle Key Server to On.
  3. A passphrase will appear on screen — note it down or leave the app open.
⚠️ Keep the Developer Mode app open on your TV during installation. The Key Server session expires after roughly 50 hours. If you ever need to reinstall, toggle Key Server back on to get a fresh passphrase.
💡 Both Dev Mode Status and Key Server must be On at the same time for the DisplayHUB installer to work.

5

Install DisplayHUB from Your Controller Dashboard

  1. Go back to your DisplayHUB controller dashboard.
  2. Find your LG TV in the device list — click Install DisplayHUB.
  3. When prompted, enter the passphrase shown in the Developer Mode app on your TV.
  4. Click Install Now and wait about 60 seconds. The app will launch automatically.
💡 After a successful install, DisplayHUB will launch on your TV and connect to the controller automatically. No further steps needed.

Ready? Go back to your DisplayHUB controller and click Install DisplayHUB on your LG TV card.
